My adult brain got in the way for most of this. It's unfathomable to me that you could be this hung up over someone you knew for two weeks when you were sixteen. It's been 11 years and it was TWO WEEKS.

And because that was the basis of their relationship, everything about them felt ridiculous. While they both had abandonment issues, Des's feelings of inadequacy stemming from a kid who didn't even live in the same state as he did was more than I could buy.
