Review: Losing Control

Losing Control by Nina Croft My rating: 3 of 5 stars I'm on a contemporary romance kick lately and I'm finding some true gems. The 3 stars is for Jake and Jake alone . I will never understand why he was interested in Kim, but he was and his pursuit of her was swoon-worthy. As for Kim, I cut her a huge amount of slack because of her past, but that lack of personality is unforgivable. View all my reviews

Review: Archangel's War

Archangel's War by Nalini Singh My rating: 1 of 5 stars I think that I don't enjoy this series any longer, but keep reading out of habit. I was bored for a lot of this, especially the battle which was 20 chapters long. (geesh!) R&E are the poster-couple for a codependent relationship (which I don't find romantic at all), the reason that The Hummingbird was 'broken' was awful, and it was just long . I still want to read Illium and Aodhan's story(ies), but not with any rush. View all my reviews

Review: Born of Metal: An Urban Fantasy Adventure

Born of Metal: An Urban Fantasy Adventure by A.L. Knorr My rating: 3 of 5 stars I enjoyed some of the world-building; the protagonist, not so much. I had trouble relating to her and that caused trouble with being invested in her journey. View all my reviews

Review: Race Against Time

Race Against Time by Sharon Sala My rating: 1 of 5 stars Didn't care for the prose. The subject matter was fine, but the manner in which it was handled...meh. The characters were inconsistent. Not for me. View all my reviews

Review: Hexbound

Hexbound by Bec McMaster My rating: 4 of 5 stars Picking up a few weeks after the events of Shadowbound , we find brooding assassin, 7th level Sorcerer Adrian Bishop being robbed of a powerful dark relic in the middle of the night by a thief with unusual talents. Double crossed by the client, Verity Hawkins (listed as Hastings in the blurb) is forced to work with the very person she should fear. This was Adrian's story and it was awesome. I can take or leave Verity, as she really was basically a side character for Adrian's journey, even though she was the heroine and love interest. Adrian is that much a force here and I loved every minute of it. View all my reviews

Review: Ximena

Ximena by D.L. Young My rating: 4 of 5 stars A short look at a woman realizing that in order to be herself, she has to let go of her marriage. I found Ximena to be extremely manipulative, so I can't honestly say that I liked her or could root for her; but I understood her desire to be her own person. View all my reviews

Review: Shaedes of Gray

Shaedes of Gray by Amanda Bonilla My rating: 1 of 5 stars And Darian joins the list of UF Heroines that annoy me. I honestly have no idea how she survived as long as she has blundering through life while claiming to be the baddest assassin of all time. View all my reviews

Review: And Shall Machines Surrender

And Shall Machines Surrender by Benjanun Sriduangkaew My rating: 3 of 5 stars The world-building was spectacular. The characters...not so much. Still an enjoyable adventure though through what it means to have freedom. View all my reviews
