Review: Archangel's Prophecy

Archangel's Prophecy by Nalini Singh My rating: 3 of 5 stars #PopSugarReadingChallenge2019 Prompt - A book you meant to read in 2018. This was way better than I thought it would be. Marginal character growth, but it was at least there. I never have a problem with Ellie and Raphael (except for when they are constantly repeating themselves, which they do way too often for my liking), and it was nice to see a majority of the characters in the series together for a while. Even Dmitri, whom I loathe with a seriously burning passion, didn't annoy me that much in this. I will never turn down a mention of Jason or Naasir *swoooooon* When the series isn't settled on building a romance between dull characters, but on the world-building and/mystery it really shines. Review: Protect the Seed

Protect the Seed by Erosa Knowles My rating: 2 of 5 stars Interracial Romance A to Z Challenge: P I think I would have enjoyed this more if the characters (all of them) had even an ounce of personality. Everyone was so cookie-cutter/one dimensional that even the main characters were boring. And the writing was both too expository and descriptive for the suspense elements of the story. It was actually too descriptive overall because there were entire paragraphs that had nothing to do with the story. We don't need to see every part of the character's every day lives. We only need that information if it furthers the plot or the character's growth. And there wasn't any character growth because everyone was Gary Stu and Mary Sue. Despite the bland characters, I will probably check out the rest of the trilogy because I want to see what happens next. Don't hold me to that, though. View all my reviews

Review: Found by You

Found by You by Victoria H. Smith My rating: 4 of 5 stars Interracial Romance A to Z Challenge: F #PopsugarReadingChallenge 2019 Prompt - A book that makes you nostalgic This was every edgy teen/new adult drama that I loved growing up. I'm talking Beverly Hills, 90210, Melrose Place, Savannah, My So-Called Life, and Swan's Crossing , so you know I'm well into my 30s. This was a fun trip, with an alpha hero that wasn't a complete tool and a heroine that was smart, funny and relatable; and a romance that, given how much I adore soap operas and their absurdity, that I could get lost in. I'm definitely checking out the rest of the series. View all my reviews

Review: In My Sister's Shadow

In My Sister's Shadow by Tiana Laveen My rating: 3 of 5 stars #PopsugarReadingChallenge2019 Prompt - A books with no chapters, unusual chapter headings, or unconventionally numbered chapters: no chapters. It was cute for what it was - a romantic paranormal fated love story. This was one of the author's earlier works so I'm almost certain that her technique has improved; I'm going to find out anyway.
